Hannah Montana Forever: Who Is Hannah Montana DVD Review
‘Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure Review’. Viewers last saw Sharpay resolved to reside near East High to assist Ms. Darbus with the drama department (much to the chagrin of arch-nemesis Tiara Gold). Well make no mistake about it- that gig (although dutifully fulfilled!) falls to the wayside in favor of bright lights and a big city.

Raising Hope S02E14 [PHOTOS + VIDEO]

As previously mentioned, Ashley guest starred on Tuesday’s February 14th episode of Raising Hope on FOX. She portrayed Mary-Louise, an actress who’s part of a community theater improv group, helping aide Jimmy to win back the affection of Sabrina. Full synopsis HERE.

Via TV by the Numbers;

Raising Hope scored a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating the same as last week.

Fans can catch the episode online to watch at Hulu and AshleyTisdale.com released several exclusive stills and behind-the-scenes photos! What’d you think of Ashley as Mary-Louise?

I LOVED IT. TOO BAD THE RATINGS DIDN’T DO BETTER :/ THEY DIDN’T PROMOTE ENOUGH

@salim- to be fair, it was a holiday yesterday so there were less people watching television than usual. Plus almost every other show decreased so it is good that this did not. Plus Ashley received good reviews for her role

Comment by Alex on February 15, 2012 at 1:42 PM

  3. Alex- Agreed. I was happy to see Raising Hope at least scored the same rating as last week versus the dip in viewership almost every other show on the same network (ie New Girl, which airs before Raising Hope, actually hit its series low last night) fared worse.

Unfortunately on Valentine’s Day, A LOT of people are going to be out in celebration of the day at 9:30pm.

@audrey- yep, everything was down… from glee to abc’s line up… and let’s not get started on cw… I love how they decided to cancel hellcats for ratings, and more than half of their shows have ratings lower than hellcats ever had.

And do you guys think that ashley may find a new pilot project?

Comment by alex on February 15, 2012 at 4:48 PM

  6. Alex- The CW is a lost cause at this point, let’s be real (and that’s even prior to Hellcats being picked up/subsequently cancelled)- that network has been in the dumps for some time now in the ratings.

I’m honestly not sure if tv is where Ashley wants to find her niche regarding her work in front of the camera. Stability and financial security are in television (as Mila Kunis concurred last year when speaking about her “Family Guy” work), and that’s where I believe Ashley is best known amongst audiences. Sure, there’s HSM, but people are familiar with her work on Suite Life, Phineas and Ferb and even Hellcats. If she can find the right vehicle- prime time certainly seems to be where the focus may be.

    What about under construction?

Comment by Salim on February 15, 2012 at 6:54 PM

  8. Alex

@salim- I don’t think that ABC opted to pick up the pilot order. They had originally picked up the pilot commitment. It seems that ABC has already picked up all of the pilots for this fall season, both the dramas and comedies, and I don’t know if they are picking up anymore because they have already begun casting for them.

Ashley still has a shot at landing a role for another pilot if she chooses to, it is just that blondie productions would not be part of it, unless a negotiation is made.

Hopefully she can find a promising pilot, or work on films.

I would actually love for her to do something for HBO, Starz, or SHowtime just because the writing for the shows is great, and it is the best of both worlds for actors. Most of the roles are meaty roles, and the episode order per season is only 10-13 episodes, meaning that actors have more leeway to work on films.

Comment by Alex on February 15, 2012 at 8:40 PM

  9. Alex

Audrey- no kidding, it seems that the only thing that works for them is supernatural type of shows now, and even then, the those ratings are comparable to abc family.

And you’re right about stability. I am sure ashley lives extremely comfortably off of her voice work for phineas and ferb. And to top it off, she will prob get a nice payday for the film adaptation that is occurring for it.

It seems that tv is becoming quite the trend for actors now just because more and more parts are being created for people that films just do not provide anymore.

Comment by Alex on February 15, 2012 at 8:44 PM

  10. Alex- Her voice work on P&F is a great way to still remain connected to a younger audience. As long as parents (who pay for movie tickets, toys…) know her name, it’s lucrative. Look at Zac Efron- sure, he’s moved beyond HSM/Disney type roles, but he’s got The Lorax bringing him back to a younger crowd- that’s never a bad idea, especially for younger entertainers.

Film is such a gamble (not that television doesn’t also have its pitfalls). If a movie doesn’t open #1, it’s often forgotten- even if it exceeded expectations. That’s such a small window for error whereas tv can increase viewership, casting can change if needed… there’s a flexibility that movie making cannot provide.

I saw earlier where you mentioned cable shows and I agree that if she’s able to audition/take on a role that it could too be a great investment. I’m just anxious for new happenings regarding her onscreen career.

Comment by Audrey on February 15, 2012 at 9:03 PM

  11. Alex

Audrey- Oh definitely agree with you. Her being on P & F is great way to stay connected with a younger audience and still being able to allow her to venture into newer territories. Plus the film for P & F will be worked on by some people of high pedigree. Toy Story 3 director is writing the revised script, and this is being produced by the producers of The Fighter and The Muppets. So this has a chance to be a big summer hit for 2013 if the cards are played right.

And plus, the franchise as a whole is worth hundreds of millions anyways.

And I feel like with movies, you can be given so much more chances. Look at people like Blake Lively or Olivia Wilde. They have not been huge box office draws, but both have managed to still get consistent work. With TV, if you are the lead, it rests more on your shoulder, while in films, usually you have costars to back you up

And yeah, I feel like some of the best parts are in cable shows, though there are some interesting pilots this season from the primetime networks that I would love ashley to consider.

And I feel the same way. I just wish we get some confirmation/denial from any of her rumored projects.

Isn’t she already attached to a film? Jonah & The Whale or something.

  14. Amy

@Alex and @Audrey – I agree with everything you said about film and TV roles. I also wanted to add that the reason a lot of actors are favoring television roles over movie roles is because the writing in TV has taken a HUGE leap for the better. There are some fantastically written TV shows out there that can better showcase actors talents than a movie can. Some of the top film writers have moved over to writing TV series over movies. At the end of the day, its the scripts that sell themselves to actors so if a TV script (which is guaranteed week on week work with great pay) is brilliant, they’ll pick that over a film.

  15. Amy

@Ronz & @Nick – We can’t confirm or deny whether any of these projects are moving forward or not. I wish we could because I know as fans we want to see Ashley working and doing well but right now we haven’t had official word!

  16. Salim

I don’t know if i should say this or not, but i want Ashley to do stuff that is not connected to Blondie Girls Prod.
    :/
I’d love to see her do a comedy movie like Bridesmaids, where she has to carry the comedy all by herself. It’s going to be a challenge but i seriously think that she has GREAT comedic timing and she can pull it off.

And TBH, Under-Construction just didn’t sound like a hit to me.

Comment by Salim on February 16, 2012 at 7:44 AM

  17. Alex- I’m glad to hear the P & F film has some heavy-hitting people behind the making. Like you said, if the script is good and the writing strong, it could definitely leave a mark, do well at the BO and perhaps even be nominated for some prestigious awards (Emmys, even a Golden Globe).

Movies provide an exposure no amount of television work can compare with. TV can get caught up in international hoopla where some audiences aren’t seeing a project until way after it’s original release. Usually, film is staggered several weeks out to capitalize on international ticket sales. The trouble with movie exposure is again- if that movie under performs, it’s pegged (usually, not always) on the actors- even before the directors/writers. I can see faux headlines now if that happened to Ashley. She’s a famous name/face and an easy target for a bulk majority of blame to be pegged on if a movie didn’t fare well. I was THRILLED critics and audiences alike stated early on that Ashley was not at fault for Hellcats sinking ratings. In fact, I remember several journalists flat out saying her fan base alone was a lot that helped keep the show alive a full season.

Blake Lively is a hard sell- she just got knocked out of a highly-touted role in an upcoming Steven Soderbergh flick and was replaced by Rooney Mara. It’s no secret several cast members dropped out due to Lively’s casting and BTS politics regarding her involvement became very public. I get the basic gist though of what you’re saying by using her name, but feel Olivia Wilde has broken into film more fluidly than Blake.

Comment by Audrey on February 16, 2012 at 12:52 PM

  18. Nick- Echoing Amy, there’s no confirmation from Ashley/her camp about her possible involvement. It does look likely that she’s attached, but that’s only due to Maze films’ website and/or IMDb- not because we have any word from her manager/publicist. Fingers crossed for a press release or even Variety/Deadline exclusive.

  19. Alex

Audrey- Yes, from what I have read concerning the P & F film, it seems that Disney is really excited about it, and really wants to make it a big success. And the high pedigree of the people who have been brought in to work on it shows that. This will def benefit ashley since she is recognized for her work on it.

Oh and I agree 100% on how films give people more exposure than tv ever could. But the plus to TV is that it can give you an opportunity to expose you to the film world. Look at the cast of GG, Sofia Vergara, Lea Michele, and more. And look at Melissa McCarthy, she is doing well balancing film and tv.

As for Blake Lively. Yeah, she is a hard sell. She is touted as a Hollywood It girl, but she has not proven her marketability or star power and she herself, can’t open films.

I don’t think Ashley will suffer a stigma if her films do not do well. look at her HSM costars. Vanessa Hudgens has only recently achieved success for one of her films, Journey 2, and even then, she was not the reason the film was successful. Yet, she is getting consistent work. And Zac has had two underperformers under his belt (New Year’s Eve and Charlie St. Cloud), yet he is still getting work. I just think Ashley should practice her craft and take risks.

Either way,I just hope we get news on projects soon.

Comment by Alex on February 16, 2012 at 3:34 PM

  20. Nick

I just hope we don’t get another 2011 again. She did small projects here and there but nothing big to keep the world interested. She needs to take a leap of faith and take risks like Alex said. Zac has a few raunchy films coming out this year and some in development. He maintained his Disney image for a while after HSM finished and now he’s starting to shred it. Ashley needs to do the same. She has incredible potential and I feel like she’s holding back because of her fanbase.

Comment by Nick on February 16, 2012 at 5:54 PM

  21. Samantha

I miss seeing Ashley on my TV screen every week. And I do have to agree with Nick by saying that she has tons of potential, and she might be holding back. I’d personally love to see her in a few more movies but TV as well. She has a talent for comedy, but I’d still love to see her in more dramas and/or maybe a horror movie someday in the future.

Comment by Samantha on February 16, 2012 at 7:23 PM

  22. Alex- Unfortunately Ashley hasn’t spoken out much on if film is in the forefront of her agenda. We know she has an affinity for TV, given both her onscreen and BTS/Blondie Girl projects.

I hope she’d be given the benefit of the doubt if a project didn’t perhaps garner success. Zac had a large, female- centric fan base even during HSM, so his career lows are less likely to slow his ability to still nab lead roles (largely based on his sex appeal/looks). I do think under performers can affect an actor’s worth, but it probably won’t all out stop them from continuing to work. As Nick stated, he’s truly just now starting to grow into a more mature onscreen persona (as the The Lucky One will feature his first onscreen love scene and he’s playing a character a year older than his own true age).

In order for Ashley to take risks there has to be a signing on for projects… that’s not to say she isn’t auditioning and trying, but it’s a snail-pace rate in which she’s picking up live-action vehicles.

She has young fans, but I’m wondering if there’s an awareness to how many older teen- 20-something admirers she also retains.
