hellcats is most likely going to be canceled :\ it’s ratings have been awful

^^ It’s a wait and see. I don’t know much about the CW, as Hellcats is the first program I’ve paid any attention to on the network. Weren’t Smallville and OTH ratings low enough to spark continued rumors of cancellation for some time? Smallville is currently in it’s final season, but OTH has time and again been renewed.
Supernatural, Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl seems to the be the network’s cash cows and fan favorites. I was surprised to hear 90210 got a pickup (as they were rumored to be facing cancellation, too). Even Nikita has it’s cult-like following (although that show came with some built-in fanbase).
If nothing else, Ashley comes out unscathed IF the show gets the ax. Across the board, even amongst media who in the past haven’t been the most glowing in critique of her non-HSM endeavors (E!, MTV, People magazine…), she impressed audiences with her onscreen command and acting skills. I think the smartest thing she’s done regarding Hellcats is to put her foot down about not singing (unless it came organically for Savannah, which thus far it has not). Unfortunately it’s glaringly obvious the performance/musical numbers aren’t catching.

I hope it doesn’t get cancelled, and I haven’t even seen Hellcats! (There isn’t a non-satellite channel in the UK that I can watch it on and I refuse to watch it online because I don’t support that way of watching tv). From what I’ve heard of Hellcats, it has a good number of fans, has mixed reviews from the critics but it is still quite popular. It’s a shame that America is so focussed on the viewing figures because when you look at the UK for example, we cannot comprehend why an American TV series that is also popular overseas has been cancelled. You’ll often find that these tv shows are very popular in places like the UK and to be honest, it’s stupid that the networks don’t take into account the popularity around the world.
I may just be being a biased Ashley fan, wanting the series to succeed but I just hope it’s not over before I get a chance to see it!
It’s all a real shame, to be honest. Fingers crossed.

the best about this preview… the kicking end with Ashley. lol

Lucyloves- The reason the CW won’t factor in worldwide ratings is because television doesn’t work like film where foreign and domestic totals are tallied together to reflect overall gross.
US ratings for a US show will always dictate cancellations. Additionally, the CW can’t factor in too much regarding other countries since different networks are picking up the show- for example it will air on MTV in the UK, so that’s a total different demographic, time slot, etc. Rarely do US shows air on the same programming schedule as overseas.
It’s probably disappointing to hear, but given the buzz Hellcats was able to generate for several months prior to the steady fall in ratings, many countries will still air/pick up and run the first season, IF the show is cancelled.

Audrey – I completely understand why US networks cancel shows etc, especially if it’s an American tv show. What’s the point in continuing with a tv show if no one’s watching? (that probably totally contradicts everything I said previously, lol). I mean, I don’t know, maybe the show isn’t actually that great, but I can’t judge personally because I haven’t seen it. Maybe there’s a lack of promotion? Or maybe the show just is lacking the spark that makes it popular with the desired demographic?
Well it will be a shame for Ashley + the rest of the cast and creation team if the show is cancelled, I honestly have my fingers crossed that it won’t be! So come on all of you American Ashley fans, get watching, tell your friends, your grandma, your dog etc, haha! The preview looks good anyway!

^^ It’s great you won’t judge since yóu haven’t seen the show versus blind adoration without having seen the work.
I’m hoping for a positive upfront announcement, but I am confident Ashley will find work outside of the CW. Even so, my belief is the writing is lacking in originality, depth and concise telling of a story. Additionally, there’s major character development that should be better spelled out. We barely know who Dan is, yet he’s a character that’s been the source of several major plot shifts. Marti continues to reside somewhere between stale and dependent upon other characters fleshing out her scenes. Hellcats has a heart which we unfortunately rarely get to see.

hellcats, for some reason, has suffered a massive hit with the ratings. I guess the long hiatus really took a toll on the show. Cw needs, instead of having a 5-6 week hiatus break, should scatter the breaks to maybe two 2-3 week breaks. hellcats has hit the “danger zone”. It all depends on how many new series the CW can pick up. If it only can afford 2 shows to create/produce/promote, then hellcats would most likely return (it may have its episode count cut back). If CW decides to pick up 3 pilots, hellcats may get the axe.
If that does happen, I can see Ashley focusing on films. This could mean that instead of just doing one film during hiatus, ashley could do 2-3 films, and then wait for the 2012 pilot season to look for a new tv project. it seems that regardless of the situation, ashley still wants to do tv shows.
Whatever happens to Hellcats, the show has proven Ashley’s range as an actress.

I’m pretty disappointed the ratings have gone down, i don’t see how though considering i know lots of people who loves Hellcats.
I’m really hoping & praying that it gets renewed. I wish i lived in America to watch the show to give it more ratings.

There is still some hope for Hellcats, since the show has been going pretty good in other countries, it is said to be a hit in Canada.
But whatever the case, tv shows can be so hard to determine. Alot of shows don’t even get past the 1st season. And like others have said, Ashley will come out of this unscathed. She has already made money on it, and many have been able to see ashley in a new light.

^^ Exactly. I don’t think low ratings are unfamiliar territory to the CW and there are shows that many a critic had all but confirmed were doomed for cancellation that are still currently filming and being renewed season after season.
I’m glad Ashley went for what she wanted, which was a television-based project. I would LOVE to see her take on a major network program on NBC or ABC in the future and it’d be even more exciting to hear her name attached to a cable series with HBO or Showtime.
